Longshot is a fictional character appearing in Marvel Comics, primarily associated with the X-Men. He hails from Mojoworld, an alternate dimension ruled by the tyrannical Mojo.
Created by Ann Nocenti and Art Adams, Longshot first appeared in 1984's Longshot #1. He is an artificial being, genetically engineered with hollow bones and the ability to manipulate luck. This power makes him extraordinarily lucky, giving him an edge in combat and other situations.
Longshot was created by Arize the Creator as a slave to fight against Mojo's oppressive regime. He was given amnesia and sent to Earth where he allied himself with various X-Men teams. Initially, he lacked memory of his past.
He eventually regained his memories and returned to Mojoworld, leading a rebellion against Mojo. Longshot's relationships include Dazzler, with whom he had a child, Shatterstar, who was later revealed to be genetically engineered from Longshot's DNA.
Throughout his history, Longshot has been portrayed as a skilled warrior, a symbol of rebellion, and a somewhat naive character grappling with his engineered existence and the concepts of free will and destiny.
